Title:
2010 Intermediate Accounting and Reporting (spring)
Course Description:
This program is a fantastic introduction for new professionals moving into higher education accounting and those seeking to learn more about accounting and reporting. The workshop presents financial accounting and reporting in the areas of endowments, investments, gifts, split interest agreements, capital assets, debt, and operating activities. Receive a thorough explanation of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards relevant to higher education institutions.  Choose from concurrent sessions on the cash flow statement; one covers the direct method required by public institutions that follow GASB, and the other covers the indirect method for independent institutions that follow FASB.  Focus on preparing and understanding financial statements, including hands-on exercises and sample statements for review.  Benefit from a distinguished faculty including a university president, a controller, and an accounting professor.
