2009 NACUBO Annual Meeting - Taming the Green Monster
Course Description:
The NACUBO Annual Meeting addresses current challenges and emerging trends in higher education administration. Participants can network with peers from comprehensive/doctoral institutions, small colleges, community colleges, and research institutions and find new ways to enhance effectiveness at their home campuses.
Competency:
Fostering creative sustainability leadership (e.g. encouraging community partnerships, smart growth, and promoting regional economic development)
Integrating sustainability into campus operations (e.g. developing a business case for sustainable designs, building green, transportation, and energy issues)
Championing holistic thinking about sustainability (e.g. decision-making and strategic planning through the lens of sustainability for the institution)
Developing a culture of sustainability (e.g. how an institutional commitment to sustainability can strengthen student, faculty, and alumni support)
Sustainability Assessment and Measurement (e.g. creating metrics and assessments to measure progress in operations, planning and other sustainability benchmarks)
Acquiring and staying current with the professional body of knowledge (e.g., participating in one's professional organization)
