Professional Resources and Events Planner (PREP)

PREP is a product of  a collaborative venture of the five associations of college and university business officers – CACUBO, EACUBO, NACUBO, SACUBO and WACUBO.  Currently, PREP organizes and displays the programs, products, and services developed and delivered by the five associations as well as those of other higher education associations and corporate partners.

Professional development resources are organized by a competency framework identified through a 2004 survey of chief business officers, staff in the business office, and individuals who work in other academic and business offices on campus.  The survey sought to discover what competencies are critical to effective performance for college and university financial and administrative staff.

The five associations have a diverse membership of approximately 2,200 public and private higher education institutions.  They include research universities, comprehensive and doctoral institutions, small institutions, and community colleges.

Competency Study

The Competency Study was undertaken in 2004.  Through a literature review and focus groups, it identified potential competencies for chief business officers, staff in the business office, and those with financial and administrative responsibilities who work in academic and other units.  The survey tested and rated the importance of the competencies to the participants' ability to do their jobs and their interest in professional development resources that would help them to deal with complex issues around that job function.
